Gorgeous Pressed Apple
Tablecloth and Napkins

(special thanks to my 7-year old son for helping with this one!)

Materials:

.

•Tablecloth and Napkins (I found a really pretty green basketweave cloth from Bed, Bath & Beyond. I paired it with cream colored napkins in the same basket weave. If you are hesitant about using cloth, you can try this on a heavy paper tablecloth (the kind lined with plastic.) I didn’t use paper, but you can try.
• Apples
• Brushes (wide and narrow)

•Fabric paint (red, green and black)
• Paring knife
• Paper towels
• Smocks (or something to protect your clothing)

Step 1: Cut apples in half (as shown) and tap them on paper towels to dry slightly.

Step 2: Spread cloth on table

Step 3: Using wide brush, paint surface of apple with paint (apply thickly).

Step 4: Position apple on cloth and press paint side down and hold for 10 seconds.

Step 5: Carefully lift up apple. (It’s ok if image is not complete—it looks better this way!)

Step 6: Using narrow brush, paint a stem

Step 7: Repeat around the cloth

Step 8: Using green paint, repeat steps as for the tablecloth for the napkins.

Step 9: Allow to dry. Look how pretty the table looks set for Rosh Hashana dinner!
