Menorah Challah

What a fun way to welcome Chanukah! Use the High Holiday Challah recipe on this website or use your own to fashion a menorah out of challah.  Remember--with this menorah, you can even eat the fire!

Step 1:
Make Challah dough according to directions on your recipe.

Step 2: Begin with one small log of dough for the Shammas.  Then loop rolls of challah around the Shammas in a U shape to form the other candlesticks.  Repeat four times until you have eight branches surrounding the Shammas candle.

Step 3: Roll small balls of dough and pinch at top to form teardrop shapes.  These are the flames for your candles.  Make 9.  Attach to the top of the candlesticks.  Use remaining dough to fashion base to menorah.

Step 4: Bake in oven at 325 degrees for 50 minutes (if you use entire dough) or 35 minutes if you use half of the dough.

Happy Chanukah!
